Brian B Hudson , NH March 28, 2014 When dispensing ice from the ice maker, the solenoid was buzzing loudly. It was also rusting badly. I ordered a new solenoid and when it arrived, I installed it as follows: I cut the power to the refrigerator. I then pulled off the rubber boot (and it's plastic frame) that covers the water switch. Then I removed the bezel that covers the front of the ice maker controls by pulling it straight out. Then I removed the four screws found on the assembly under the bezel. After pulling the assembly forward a bit, I detached the multi-wire connector attached to it and put the assembly aside. After removing the electrical connection to the solenoid, I removed the three screws located at the lower part of the solenoid. I then loosened a screw (partially hidden) near the top of the solenoid in the corner of the compartment (get a flashlight to see this) and removed the solenoid. Reassembly followed the reverse procedure. Have fun. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

Russell W Cocoa , FL July 04, 2014 My ge refrigerator had a an ice maker door solenoid hanging up it would continually "hum" for 30 45 seconds before it would release I removed the control assembly on the door of the freezer section to expose the solenoid. I removed all electrical connections from the solenoid and then removed the old solenoid. I replaced the old with the new. It was an an exact match, so there were no issues there. It was a rather simple procedure. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros, I received the part the very next day! I could not be happier!! Thanks, Russ White Read More...
