A V-belt is used on riding lawn mowers and yard tractors to turn the blades and the accessories of these power tools. The engine pulley, which supplies power, is connected to the cutting deck pulley, which turns the mower blades, with a V-belt. Over time the V-belt, which is made of rubber, may stretch, calling for the tension on the belt to be adjusted. Eventually the belt will wear to the point that it no longer turns the cutting deck pulley fast enough for the blades to cut grass. Sometimes the belt will crack with dry rot and break. In any of these instances, the solution is to replace the V-belt. In order to replace the V-belt, the cutting deck must be lowered completely. A worn belt will likely slip off the cutting pulley with little resistance. In case the belt is missing, the user will find a diagram with the proper V-belt routing on top of the cutting deck. When replacing the V-belt, make sure to use a genuine OEM replacement part such as this one, which is manufactured to be an exact replacement for the original. This V-belt is compatible with riding mowers from MTD, Murray, Huskee, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard Man.
This is a replacement belt for self-propelled lawn and garden equipment. The belt is responsible for turning the axle that rotates the wheels when the self-propelled action is engaged. Over time, the belt can become worn with regular use. it should be replaced every season for optimal operation. There may also be instances where the belt breaks or becomes damaged and needs immediate replacement to avoid further damage. Without a working belt, the self-propelled function will not work. This genuine OEM v-belt is designed for use with a variety of 21-inch walk-behind lawn mowers and snow throwers. This belt is made of durable composite rubber material and reinforced for longer life with premium compression materials. Be careful when replacing belts and other tension parts as pinching and crushing injuries are common. Always allow the engine to cool and disengage the spark plug for safety.
The drive belt was slipping when it was cold. Eventually the belt warmed up from the slippage and once warmed had enough friction to hold. The Craftsman manual said that special tools were required to change the belt, but that was not so. It was fairly easy. Read more

This is a Briggs & Stratton Original Equipment 491588S Air Filter Cartridge. The purpose of this filter is to prevent dirt, dust, and debris from contaminating the carburetor and damaging the engine. This flat panel style, pleated paper air filter provides the first line of defense against the destructive effects of dirt ingestion. It is designed for 3.5 through 6.75 HP quantum engines and 625-1575 series engines. Over time, the air filter can get clogged or damaged, and this can lead to reduced engine performance. Locate the air filter cover, unscrew it, and remove the old filter. Make sure to clear out any debris that has found its way into the air filter assembly before inserting the new cartridge. Reattach the air filter cover and secure it with the screws. This replacement part works with generators, lawnmowers, pressure washers, wood chippers, and tillers. Aside from Briggs & Stratton, it is also compatible with specific products from Craftsman, Husqvarna, Lawn-Boy, Toro, Troy-Bilt, Simplicity, Snapper, and Wheel Horse. It is a genuine OEM replacement part and is sold individually.
The exhaust systems on lawn and garden equipment are just as important as those on a vehicle. They need a good seal to prevent a leak between the carburetor and the exhaust tube, which would allow air leakage that could cause performance issues and loud noise. Over time all exhaust gaskets deteriorate and require a full replacement. It is relatively easy to replace an exhaust gasket and requires only the use of screw drivers, a socket set or a wrench set depending on the device being service. Replacement components such as sockets or screws may also be required during this repair. The gasket surfaces should be cleaned and fully dried before being installed between the carburetor and the exhaust tube. This exhaust gasket works with Toro, Simplicity, Murray and Briggs & Stratton lawnmowers, generators, snowblowers, wood chippers, and lawn tractors. It also works with equipment made by Craftsman, Husqvarna, Cub Cadet, Poulan, Wheel Horse, MTD, Ariens, and more.
