A V-belt is used on riding lawn mowers and yard tractors to turn the blades and the accessories of these power tools. The engine pulley, which supplies power, is connected to the cutting deck pulley, which turns the mower blades, with a V-belt. Over time the V-belt, which is made of rubber, may stretch, calling for the tension on the belt to be adjusted. Eventually the belt will wear to the point that it no longer turns the cutting deck pulley fast enough for the blades to cut grass. Sometimes the belt will crack with dry rot and break. In any of these instances, the solution is to replace the V-belt. In order to replace the V-belt, the cutting deck must be lowered completely. A worn belt will likely slip off the cutting pulley with little resistance. In case the belt is missing, the user will find a diagram with the proper V-belt routing on top of the cutting deck. When replacing the V-belt, make sure to use a genuine OEM replacement part such as this one, which is manufactured to be an exact replacement for the original. This V-belt is compatible with riding mowers from MTD, Murray, Huskee, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard Man.
