Dishwasher failed to run normal cycle. Would fill and then empty, but would not run through the normal rinse/clean cycle. Determined that the Sump/Motor Assembly needed to be replaced. Dishwasher had to be pulled out to access part. Was difficult to snap into place and had to maneuver several times to get a tight seal before reattaching peripheral components. I've had to repair this appliance before, and it's almost always the motor-pump that needs replacing. It's a pretty easy fix if you have a roll out dishwasher. All you have to do is flip the dishwasher on its back, unhook the pump (no tools required, just push down the locking tab and twist and disconnect the wiring), and plug in the new one. The dishwasher would fill with water, and then was silent (during the time you'd expect to hear it washing. Cancel/draining worked fine too. I assumed it was the pump/motor that had failed. This small check ball sits inside the dishwasher's drain pump or water inlet valve and acts as a one-way valve to prevent water from flowing backward through the system. It ensures water moves in the correct direction during wash and drain cycles. Replace this part if you notice water draining back into the tub after a cycle completes, the dishwasher isn't draining properly, or water is leaking from the pump area.
I ordered new racks, volute and check ball, and new spray arms. Replacing the volute and check ball were the hardest things to do and they were fairly easy to change. The toughest part for me was finding my T15 torxdriver. After replacing these parts the washer operates much better with much higher pressure than what we were experiencing recently. Read more

The water just sat in bottom of the tub, but the dishes never got wet. The water would drain out at the end of the cycle. I took a chance that it was the circulation pump and not the control panel since everything else seemed to be working. I replaced the circulation pump &motor and the problem was solved. The hardest part was getting the DW out of the cabinet since it was a very tight fit due to the floor tile. The job of replacing the part only took about 15~20 minutes thanks to the repair...
