Over time, the retainer spring can become degraded due to excessive wear and tear. If it is no longer securing the mower deck, it will need to be replaced. Luckily, replacing this part is a relatively simple process.To replace the spring, make sure the mower deck is set to the lowest position. Locate the old retainer spring and pull it out and away from the mower. Once removed, slide the new spring into its proper position.
