  I took apart the head of my Kitchen Aid stand mixer to get to the gear housing. Once inside the gear housing I was able to determine which gear was stripped or worn, (this is caused by too heavy of a load). I cleaned out all the grease and took apart the gears, replaced the bad gear and reassembled the gears and new grease. Now my stand mixer works like new.
