The choke cable opens and closes the valve that controls the choke, or throttle, on the lawn mower. When the choke handle is depressed or pulled out, it will open or close the butterfly valve, controlling fuel flow to increase or decrease the speed and performance of the mower. Based on the type of tension cable that is used, this part can wear out or even snap from regular use and need to be replaced. This lock washer is used frequently for a number of applications on power yard equipment. The size, 5/16, is the default for many small engine housing and manifold applications.
