A star knob connects the upper and lower handles on an outdoor appliance, and if removed, the upper and lower handles are quick-released. This part is made of black heavy-duty black plastic, and the threads are made of steel. Over time, the threading can become worn out, making the connection loose, and causing the two handles to no longer stay in place.
Star knobs are a straightforward repair that can be done in a matter of minutes. Just unscrew the original, damaged knob and screw in the new knob. The knob is designed to be unscrewed by hand, so there is no need for additional tools to make this repair.
