Chris B Lynden , WA January 12, 2017 Tear/hole in the pump hose First and foremost, much thanks to APP for perfect transaction, and incredible price! The part was shipped quickly, and arrived fast. Immediate Availability of the part was outstanding, and truly saved this Canadian's day! See, in Canada, LG has their own unfair practice of NOT ALLOWING a Canadian citizen to purchase ANY functional parts for any of their appliances or products... furthermore, in order to get the part for any issue, you must pay directly for an LG direct service tech to come at an inflated mandatory inspection fee (range in the $250 mark for 1 hr inspection) just to 'look' at the appliance to tell you what is wrong, then ONLY THEY CAN ORDER THE PART (they do not even allow LG certified sales, distributors & certified 3rd party service technicians to order their parts!) yes, it is true! Then the LG direct service must be the one who works on it to receive the part... etc. This is the most insane, ultimate BS business practice I have ever encountered and should be illegal/outlawed. I am a competent, self-servicing consumer who can inspect and repair everything I own including my own home and automobiles. How dare LG put in place ability to order functional parts to an entire country! Just an FYI - I also discovered that it was MUCH easier than the online Youtube videos to replace this part on the washer. Forget all the panel removals, accessing from the rear, disconnecting all the hoses etc. Just turn all the water off, jack up and block up the washer (SAFELY) with a decent amount of underside access (I had a few cedar 6x6 longer posts as 'shims'/blocks to lift it up off floor) and you can easily reach in with channel lock pliers and screw/nut drivers to disconnect the clamps and remove the hose. DO NOT REACH UNDER UNLESS SAFELY BLOCKED UP. Reattaching new hose was quick too. Lifting up and safely blocking the washer was 15min, removing hose 5 min, new hose installation 10, and safely lowering the washer back down was 15min. 45 min total working time. Michael K Lake Worth , FL March 28, 2020 Worn out bearing seal and rear and front drum bearings The how to video was excellent. THE EDGES OF THE UNIT ARE SHARP. PUT TAPE AROUND THE OUTER EDGES OF THE UNIT OR USE GLOVES IF YOU CAN. I CAN'T WORK WITH GLOVES AND CUT MYSELF TWICE, ONCE PRETTY BAD WHEN VICE GRIP SLIPPED WHEN REPLACING INNER DRUM FRONT SEAL SPRING. MORE TO FOLLOW ON THIS ISSUE. Only one or two very minor differences between video and my unit. First suggestion is to take a cupcake muffin tin and put screws into each bin in order that you take them out and label the bins with a piece of paper and tape. It will save you a load of time. Then follow video. Only issues I had was in getting the old bearings out (always a bear to do on any bearing in my experience) and putting the new bearings in which was easier than knocking the old ones out but still harder than he shows in the video. Only other problem I had was getting the springs on the front drum seal. Inner spring is a hook and eye and I did it like the video but cut myself badly when vice grip slipped and back of my hand hit the top edge of unit. If doing it again I would take some picture hanging wire, wrap it around the hook side and down around wire itself, bring the end down through the eye side and then put the vice grip on that end and pull up and over the hook. Then release the wire. Wish I had thought of this before I struggled and eventually badly cut the back of my hand. Other issue is replacing the seal spring on the outer front of the unit. Every time I followed video the seal would pull off when I tried to stretch the spring. I even call for support ideas which wasn't very helpful. Then after watching the video about twenty times I heard the tech say something like, hopefully you've stretched out the spring. I then stretched the spring by stepping into the loop and pulling. It opened just a bit and then I got it on the seal the first attempt. Most of the job is easy although be prepared for your significant other to have a fit when they see the unit apart. Lane C Pleasant Garden , NC February 24, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM2688HNMA The washer sounded like a jet plane when it went through the spin cycle very loud noise I originally thought the washer had a bad bearing, but once I got it disassembled it the spider arms were broken. This required the replacement of the tub assembly. While replacing the tub I replaced all of the water bellows. The parts came quickly, the live chat and videos were very helpful. This washer has to be completely disassembled to replace the drum, so mark all the screw locations, tag and bag everything and take lots of pics. It was a very rewarding project and hundreds of dollars cheaper than a service call Read More... 14 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
