Nathan M St. George , UT July 27, 2019 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDF8874ST Ne error code dirty silverware in upper third rack and door broken off soap dispenser. I ordered a new vario motor and a soap dispenser. I turned off the water and the breaker, disconnected the water line and the power at the front base of the unit, disconnected the drain hose from the garbage dispenser, and pulled out the dishwasher and laid it on a blanket on its face. I unscrewed and removed the plainly visible vario motor on the bottom of the machine and removed the cam from the shaft. I then used a needle nose plier to carefully turn the D-shaft on the new motor to exactly match the position of the old motor. I put the cam onto the new motor and screwed it back into place. Then, I reinstalled the electric and water to the dishwasher and reinstalled it into the cabinet. To replace the soap dish, I opened the door of the dishwasher and unscrewed all the perimeter screws except the two immediately adjacent to the latch, which I correctly guessed were holding the latch, not the door. The door face fell away but remained attached at the base. I detached two electrical cables and undid six screws in two brackets holding the soap dispenser in place. The old dispenser fell out. I put in the new one and reinstalled the screws and clipped in the electrical connections. The insulation material in the door was wet because I had not sopped up all the undrained water from the dishwasher before rotating it onto its face for the prior repair. I mounted a hair dryer to blow on it for couple hours until it was totally dry, then I reassembled the door and turned back on the water and the electrical breaker. I ran an empty load, no problem, so I loaded it with dirty dishes and ran my normal cycle. Everything is clean and no more nE code. Thankfully, I had watched some repair videos on a competitor site that ended up not having my soap dispenser in stock. The video I was sent along with my purchase from this site told me I needed to remove all kinds of stuff inside the dishwasher before turning over and removing the motor underneath. All that would have been unnecessary, but I only knew that by chance having viewed multiple other repair videos. Dimitri T Cranston , RI February 26, 2019 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDS5040ST Lg dishwasher “ne” or “ue” error code (vario spray arm). This was a very simple repair. It was done in about an hour. It involves disconnecting the dishwasher, emptying the water from the inside, taking it out and flipping it over, and replacing the diverter motor. This repair is done on the underside of the dishwasher, nothing to disconnect inside (just remember to remove the baskets). It would be wise to order the motor seal and micro switch that goes with it as they are all cheap parts and easy to swap out during the procedure. Be sure to take pictures of what you disassemble in case you forget how they go back. You will have to reuse the plastic cam from the shaft of the old motor, or you can order a new one (note which side is up!). Mike S Omaha , NE October 04, 2020 Appliance: Model LDT5678ST LG ldt5678st dishwasher showing ne error code making clicking noise. Most important lesson: This model has a newer and very different chassis, the underside has a monolithic polyethylene base that is very difficult to remove. The diverter motor is accessible but just barely with an offset wrench. Also, the sprayers are quite different from the video, I could not figure out how to remove them. Note that the LG calls the diverter a Vario motor. I replaced the motor but this did not fix the issue, so I called in the pros. They confirmed that the motor was not the issue, but discovered two round metal punch-outs that were holding the internal plastic valve immobile. Removed the obstruction and the problem solved. This dishwasher includes an elaborate filter system that makes it all but impossible for objects that size to have been washed into the system, so going to file a claim with LG.
