Robert C Springfield , VA September 25, 2022 Appliance: Amana Gas Dryer LG1009W The flap that closes over the ice chute wasn’t closing completely. The warm air is drawn into the chute creating frost. I watched the video attached to the part schematic for the three parts that work the chute - there is a small motor/actuator and the flap itself (which includes the spring, so really didn’t need to order the spring additionally). The hardest part was getting the cover off - I put tape all around the outside of the edge on the refrigerator to avoid scratching it and then used pry tools I have for automotive repairs (pulling off trim and panels) and was able to get it out without a problem. Client saw all the mold behind it and wanted to clean it out - so account for 30 minutes for OCD clients to get out bleach and Q-tips to clean out the area behind the panel. Don’t need to disconnect power - but you do need to lock the ice maker/water as you have to depress the water switch to get the panel out around the water dispenser - and put a rag into the ice chute from the inside. Swapping out parts was easy - just don’t lose the two little screws that hold the flap on. Take a picture with your phone before you disassemble and then re-install as you un-installed. Getting the panel back on was a bit hard with the door handle in the way - be patient and push easy but firm. The hardest part was getting the panel off and waiting for the client to clean out behind the panel. Problem solved - not sure if it was the flap or the motor - but since I knew we were going to have it open, I replaced both to save a return trip/delay in repair for client. Bruce B Corpus Christi , TX March 12, 2019 Appliance: Model LSC27926SB (AWBCLGA) Flap on ice dispenser was loose I was buying a part for my other refrigerator and decided to replace the ice tray on my LG, as it was not emptying properly. When I found the part, I also saw a video attached to the ice dispenser parts. I had taped over the ice dispenser years ago and would just open the freezer for ice. Watched the video and they sure made it look easy to replace that flap, so I decided to give it a shot. I replaced the ice tray as soon as the parts came in, but did not have the time to tear off the front panel that day. Decided the time was now available and sat down in front of the fridge and started feeling for the openings mentioned in the video, mine did not have those. Instead of a screwdriver, as is shown in the video, I used a plastic putty knife to slide under the panel to click loose the tabs. I knew I would scratch the fridge if I went at it with a screwdriver. Once I removed the panel everything was just as it was in the video. (note: I did not even have to watch the video twice, it was very clear and understandable the first time.) I took it apart as described, including the warning given about the spring (which I also ordered a replacement, just in case). Everything, except the ice funnel, worked as perfect as the expert in the video and I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly the job was completed. I thank you, and curse you, for providing the video showing how easy this job, that I had put off for years, was to complete. Thanks again, Bruce. Eddie S Liberty Hill , TX November 24, 2014 Appliance: Model LG LSC27990TT Ice dispenser dropping ice cap broken Received the parts by 10am the day after I placed the order. Started repair right away and took less than 15mins to complete. The spring lever that I ordered did not match the actual spring in the appliance. It was missing a hook which keeps it engaged with the cap. I was able to modify the spring and add the necessary hook using my needle nose pliers, but it would have been better if it fit as needed right out of the package. Overall, couldn't be happier!
