This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. Our flanged lock nuts are genuine OEM MTD nuts, and they are sold individually.
This is a genuine washer lock that is designed to be used in various applications on lawn and garden equipment. It is a standard piece of hardware that provides a strong seal and distributes pressure between the two connected components. Because of the exposure to high pressure and vibrations, these washers can become damaged or broken over time. If they are not replaced promptly, the connection between the two different parts may be affected. These washers are small and can also get lost while doing other repairs, so it may be helpful to keep some extras on hand. This genuine OEM lock washer is manufactured to exact standards and is compatible with several lawn and garden machines from Husky, Cub Cadet, MTD, RYOBI, Yard Machines, Troy Bilt, Yard Man, and Bolens. It can be used with over 150 models of tractors, blowers, cultivators, trimmers, and snowblowers. Consult the parts diagram for the exact location(s) and application(s) of this washer. Replacing this washer will require a screwdriver or socket set to attach the screws or bolts that the washer is securing. Always wear gloves for hand protection when replacing engine components like this lock washer.
