1: loud noise on freezer side. 2: no water dispensing Matt M. • Pickett , WI • February 05, 2021

One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was.

The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It monitors the temperature of the evaporator coils and activates the defrost heater when necessary. This process prevents frost buildup on the coils, ensuring the refrigerator maintains optimal cooling efficiency.
You should replace the defrost thermostat if it becomes faulty or damaged. Common causes of a bad defrost thermostat include electrical failures, regular wear and tear, or temperature fluctuations that can degrade the component over time.
Symptoms of a bad defrost thermostat include:
- Excessive frost buildup on the evaporator coils
- Refrigerator not cooling properly
- The defrost cycle not activating
- Increased energy consumption
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.
