Microwave won't heat but runs normally? A failed magnetron is the likely cause. This part generates the microwaves that cook food. Moderate DIY repair.

Didn't heat. Harry W. • Maple Park , IL • January 21, 2018
My son told me that almost all the microwave ovens that came into the repair center he worked at, 15 years ago, had a defective magnetron. I ordered a magnetron, and sat back until one shipped. The one that came, the first time, was in a small factory cardboard box, which was in a large bubble-pak Fedex envelope; which didn't show any signs of abuse. Inside, however, the factory box was beat up. Removing the magnetron, I noticed that the socket, as well as its' pins, was bent, and loose in the...

Interior light and turntable failed at the same moment. Stacey B. • New Bern , NC • February 01, 2021
Knowing the odds of 2 failures occurring at the same exact time was unusually high, I just searched your site for what other broken items might affect these two failures. Came up with next control item upstream and tallied that item failure with percentages of successful repairs, (4 mins.) door safety switch.
Since I had to change out the most likely of the 3 and since I was already was going to be into the switch panel I ordered all 3 and swapped them all out to cover my butt, as they were...

Microwave turntable would not spin Charles B. • Uniontown , PA • November 23, 2014
Removed 8 screws from bottom panel on microwave. Pulled two prong plug off old motor. Read supplied voltage off motor decal and tested for it. Deemed motor to be bad and changed it. Works great. After tearing old motor apart it seems a liquid got in there from inside microwave. No seal on motor. Bad design flaw in my opinion.

Broken lg microwave door handle Paul T. • Poplar Bluff , MO • December 14, 2014
I used a putty knife to remove the black plastic cover on the inside of the door to expose the screws to the handle. Then using a Phillips screw driver, I removed the top and bottom screws to remove the handle. The bottom screw was stripped so I had to us a pair of pliers to grip the broken plastic handle to remove the screw. Replaced handle and tightened screws, snapped ring back in place. Whole process took 10 minutes.

The Door Latch Housing and Interlock Switch Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG microwaves. It consists of the protective door latch housing casing along with the two-door switches and interlock switch.
The interlock switch prevents microwave energy from being generated inside the oven when the door is open. It shuts off all power once a faulty seal is detected between the door and cavity.
Symptoms of issues can include:
- Microwave failing to turn on or cook with the door open
- Sparking or arcing seen near the door seal or frame
- Error codes displayed related to interlock detection faults
Compatible models include some GE, Kenmore, and Samsung units using matching door designs sourced from LG.

This is a charcoal filter intended for use with LG microwaves. This charcoal filter removes odors and small particles emitted from foods that would otherwise circulate through the air during the cooking process. It is normal for a charcoal filter to become too dirty to function properly during the normal lifespan of the microwave. When that happens, a replacement filter is required to prevent odors. If strong smells are recognized during the operation of an LG microwave that weren't noticeable before, it's likely the charcoal filter has become clogged or needs to be swapped out with a new one. Replacing the charcoal filter in an LG microwave is a relatively easy task. It is recommended to first disconnect the appliance from the electrical outlet to prevent accidental activation of the device. Wear work gloves for protection. This LG charcoal filter is an authentic OEM replacement part. It is made specifically for LG brand microwaves and fits several different models. It is made of high-quality, durable materials. The LG charcoal filter is recommended to be replaced every six months to one year. It is sold as an individual unit.

Microwave shut off without usual beep at end of cycle no power to unit even though plugged in. James B. • Rocky Hill , NJ • November 17, 2017
Replace Thermostat on top of cavity. The thermostat is attached via 2 bending sheet metal tabs. Ours blew because the two wires connected to thermostat shorted, connectors melted. The short was caused by buildup of grease under thermal wire cover, shorting both leads. The unit is used heavily. This is the first thermostat to go. I had to replace wire connectors that connected to thermostat as well since the connectors were melted as well. Helpful hint. The grease build up was probably caused by...
