Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. I ordered the part and replaced it myself. Saved me having to pay a repairman. I looked up my washer by model number online and was able to find a diagram of my machine. I simply used the diagram to know what parts went into position on my machine. Removed the knobs then, a few screws and and the wiring connector. Installed the new part in the reverse order I took it apart and my machine now works as it should. Took me about 90 minutes start to finish.
