The previous tenant in my daughter's new apartment apparently had a grease fire of sorts in the GE XL44 gas oven. This left the insulating double glass panes so fouled up that one could not see into the oven. I removed the oven door (just lifts off the hinges) and proceeded to disassemble the door so as to get to the glass panes. Replaced the glass. Unfortunately I thought if I bought the OEM kit it would have the 2 pieces of glass, the inner frame and the sealer. It did have the inner frame and although the model number ordered was the same, the inner frame was incorrect. I took it apart and used the original. I could have purchased 1 piece of tempered 1/4 thick "rectangle glass for 1/2 the cost. The job is done, took about 20 mins and we "live and learn" on replacement parts. Read more
