After 20 years of flawless service my gas range needed repair: the thermostat. I viewed GE's DYI repair video. Its a very easy repair that should have taken 20 minutes but it took us forever because we couldn't get the oven sensor to snake into the oven chamber. The angle was too acute. Eventually we figured out a solution.
(also we proceeded a bit slow because we're not used to doing repairs. took pics along the way so we didn't forget what goes where)

I found AppliancePartsPros online and they had exact replacements of the burner caps. The website easily listed the part numbers that the caps replaced (since Kennmore no longer had them). The bonus was that they were available in a shiny black which looks so much more attractive on my stove. I did have to get the grates from another company.
