I originally thought it was just accumulated dirt and sludge in the sump and the lines. I cleaned all that and it was not the cause. Saw this video...took off the filter frame and the piston & nut assembly was definitely broke (cap deteriorated to nothing). Need pliers to break it free as in the video. I accidentally ripped the screen taking off the filter frame, and saw a hole from the heating rod on top of the inlet cover so I replaced them too. Very easy replacement project once it was... The most difficult part was disconnecting the water lines and pulling out the dishwasher. Once this was done it took 5 minutes to replace the new assembly. Definitely get the two new screws. Read more

We removed the spray arm from the Spray Arm Hub and Support Assembly (GE part WD22X126) and discovered that the Check Valve (GE part WD1X5488), which prevents dirty water from flowing back into the tub, was missing completely. Replacement was very easy - the soft rubber valve pushes into position from the inside of the Support Assembly. We also found that the Plastic Thrust Washer (GE part WD3X766) inside the center of the Spray Arm Hub had eroded considerably, so we replaced that as well. Read more
