Replacing the inlet valve solved the problem. The old valve was somehow clogged with white sediment. I probably could have taken it off and cleaned it out if I'd known, but replacing the valve was much easier. Took about half an hour to repair. Video walk through was extremely helpful. Great to have a working dishwasher again!

Turned off power to dishwasher. Removed front bottom cover of dishwasher and removed the wires going to each end of the heating element. unscrewed the two nuts holding the faulty heating element in place. Then removed bottmo dish rack and spinning washer arm from inside the dishwasher. Removed old heating element and replaced with new one. Installed in reverse order (tightened two nuts, connected wires, etc.). Turned power on as last step and was off and running...or should I say washing.

I lubed the o rings with dish soap, they slid in perfectly. reinstalled the clamp and screws and was ready to reinstall the dishwasher. Worked great. Next time I will buy the pump the first time. Buying the o rings separately adds $$.
