Replace it when ice is not dispensing properly, the chute door won't open or close fully, warm air is entering the freezer through the dispenser, or the assembly is cracked or broken.

Bought new case-ice-route from AppliancePros.com for Samsung Refrig RF267ABRS. Part arrived intact and on-time. On my Samsung model, the original part has a chute (clear piece) with a molded channel for the water dispensing tube to sit in.
