The leak was caused due to what I assume was hard water build-up on the cover of the drawer assembly unit. I took off the top cover of the washer disconnected the hoses attached to the box and popped it out. I next took off the cover of the drawer and replaced it with the new one. As suspected the holes on top of the old part were caked in hard water causing the water flow to gush out of the sides due to the pressure build-up.
