Samsung DC96-01700A Drain Pump Assembly OEM Part

The part was perfect, the delivery of it was quick, and the accompanied video for the installation on the internet was wonderfully helpful. I think the video was extraordinarily helpful and well-produced. Both the instructor and the photographer in the video did a super job. I was going to have a repair man come when I realized the repair would entail - a pump replacement - and I had the cussing experience with earlier washer repairs in my life. Then I reviewed the video for the repair and I thought I would be a copping out by not doing it myself. My wife and I did cleaning and CLR-ed the hose filters and cleaned the Samsung dryer and areas behind both machines since we had to pull the washer out into the laundry room - doing a maintenance not often done. The total job was two hours but we really took our time while doing other tasks as well. But we had fun. A project, together, and well accomplished because many wash cycles have passed and all is well in this household. I cannot say enough good things about Appliance Parts Pro. Classy act. I'll be back if necessary Our problem was the result of those plastic t-tabs that hold the tags on new clothes. One end of the tags secure the label or notice or brand of the clothes and the other end has a little "t' that contains it within the garment. When cutting them off of clothes it is important- I now know - to remove both pieces of the that plastic. These plastic "strings" entangled with human hairs and created a "hair ball" which acted to jam the impellers and burn out the pump motor. I held a class in proper removal of tags with the four ladies in the household. I bought this Samsung Model WF328AAW/XAA-02 in February 2002 and this was our first problem. Both the washer and dryer were purchased together and this is the first problem with them. They are used every day - four ladies!

Drained washer tub from lower bypass hose. Checked filter slot for debris. Cycled 2 more times with same outcome, "ND" not draining. Dirty clothes being held captive as door won't unlock. Found site online with Samsung customers with same issues on 4-5 yr old washers. Deductive reasoning indicates bad washer drain pump. Ordered part from Appliancepartspros.com, which was very reasonably priced. Arrived 2 days later (no upgraded S&H). Found video on YouTube and followed instructions. Part was a perfect match. Removal and installation took 28 mins total. Very easy to change. Washer is much quieter now. Wife Happy too.. : )

After checking all drain lines for clogs I felt it had to be the pump. Washer is 6 years old so not unreasonable to assume things are going bad. The pump shipped on time and was received quickly. Took about 1 hour to install. First load after installation the error returned. I drained about one half gallon of water from the pump manually and restarted. We have now washed three loads with no error codes. Still optimistic this was the problem but watching closely. Next step will be to lower the drain pipe stack from 32" to 24" to lessen the workload on the pump.

Went on-line to read up on my washer. Looked pretty easy, so started searching for part and found at Appliance Parts. Ordered part which came in 2 days and I did not ask for express shipping. Came FedEx Ground. Took me about an hour to replace the pump assembly and it is working fine.

My daughter fixed this with a little help from me and a lot of help from the excellent video. It is so helpful to know how much of the machine to take apart. It was especially helpful to find out how to find the spring that holds the door gasket. The drain pump assembly was a perfect fit. One warning: when taking off the front panel (the big part with the door), there were screws (underneath where you can't see them) holding the lower tabs. The video showed the panel lifting off easily, so we tugged pretty hard for a while thinking they were just stuck. Luckily we thought to look and feel underneath or we never would have found the problem and possibly could have ruined the sheet metal.
