Alan January 14, 2015 for Model Number SMW272YP, S/N 20090038 I'm having the same problem with my oven door not closing completely. I have had an authorized service rep from Thermador look at my oven and state that Thermador no longer makes the door spring for my oven and I'm out of luck. What is my next action? Will one of the hinges you have listed work with my Thermador?
Douglas February 05, 2014 for Model Number SC272T It this hinge (487746) sold individually or does it include both the left and right side? So would I need to order one or two hinges per door that I am repairing?
B.L.D. January 02, 2014 for Model Number Thermador SMW272 I ordered 487746 replacement hinges for my Thermador SMW272 oven. I know how to lock the old hinges open, remove the door and remove the old hinges from the door. The problem is that the new hinges from AppliancePartsPro came shipped in the closed/unlocked position. I can't reinstall the door with the new hinges in that position and opening and locking them manually is extremely difficult if not impossible. Any suggestions? AppliancePartsPros.com: You really should ship these in the open/locked position and ready to install. Some written instructions might be nice as well.
1 Answer Hello B.L.D., The problem is that since we do not ever see the parts, (they are manufactured at the appliance manufacturers' facility, and packaged there), so we never actually see the parts. I always just installed the hinges in the door and used my vise grips to grasp the hinge to open it. This makes it easier and safer since you get so much leverage from the door assembly and the vise grips. Again, instructions are included with parts at the discretion of the parts/appliance manufacturer. You are welcome to direct complaints such as this to the appliance manufacturer and if enough complaints are received, the manufacturer might take action to correct the discrepancy. Read More...
