Erika February 21, 2022 for Model Number PRDS486GD My proofing oven is not working as it should. The broiler setting does not work at all, it never gets red hot. If I set the bake temp to 300 or 400 degrees, the oven will eventually get hot but it takes a long time to pre-heat to temperature (like more then a half hour). Is this as simple as replacing the bottom element, or something more dire than that? Ive had 3 repair companies (including thermadors authorized providers) and no one is definitive on the cause or resolution and all have recommended different parts (relays, control boards) but no one has the parts either....lol. Hoping someone on this site has a solid suggestion. I realize the range is 20 years old and parts are hard to come by now for thermador but still....seems to me I should be able to get this to work. Appreciate your suggestions!
1 Answer Hello Erika, your model has electric elements for bake/broil, these can be tested using a multimeter, if they pass then the next step is usually to replace the appropriate oven control board which powers those elements through a set of relays that can wear out over time and use. A manufacturer's authorized service provider should be familiar with the model and this procedure. Read More...
