1 Answer

RHB, This issue would be a faulty drain pump assembly if there is a loud vibration coming from it when it is running.

Dan, This has a magnetic type drain pump motor so it will be jerky but it sounds like the drain pump is getting proper voltage and would be the issue with the unit.

Peter, no water in the base doesn't always indicate a leak, but you do need to check and see. It could be spillage, foam in the tub, etc. Yes it does look like a couple of mechanisms involved, but not really, it's one assembly. No, the float in the base does not mean the drain pump will drain the base, you will need to clean and dry out the base assembly by hand.

Erik for Model Number SHU5315 UC/12

After running the dishwasher last night before bed I woke up to it this morning with the LED showing CL and the drain pump still running making a loud humming/vibrating sound. I shut off the machine and restarted it and the drain pump went immediately back to the loud humming/vibrating. Nothing is stuck in the pump but the machine will not fill with water and will not shut off even when cancel/drain is pressed. If I fill the tank with water manually and run it, the dishwasher cycles water and runs thru the rinse/hold cycle until the time runs out and the CL is in the LED but the drain pump keeps running and making the loud vibrating/humming. The drain pump does pump out all the water in the tank at the end of the cycle but does not shut off. Is this problem of the tank not filling and the loud vibrating of the drain pump caused by a failed drain pump or control panel issue?

Hello Erik. You need to check for a leak in the bottom of the unit. If there is not one, you will want to check for a stuck float on the unit.

Hello Cliff, The wires can be placed on either terminal. This is not a polarized part and the motor will run the same direction either way.

Peter, While we do not have the resistance ratings for this drain pump, it does not sound like it would be out of range of normal.

Bman, It appears that the error code 21 is an indication of a blockage in the system which is not allowing it to drain. Please check the circulation pump and drain pump for obstructions.
