Patrick B November 22, 2013 for Model Number HV303 downdraft blower When I press the button to raise the fan blower, it just makes a faint hum for 2 seconds and does nothing. Any idea what part may need to be replaced?
1 Answer Patrick, You will want to check to make sure that the gears are not binding. Other wise if it just hums and does nothing then it sounds like the motor may be faulty. Read More...
Adrian L September 06, 2013 for Model Number bosch 30" downdraft hood installed in 2010 The hood intermittently works. At first it stopped pulling/drafting air, but would go up and down fine. Then it stopped going up down as well. Then stopped drafting, and still wouldn't go up/down. It wouldn't work for around 1 week and then all started working. About 1 week later it simply stopped going up and down and lasted 2 days. Then it started working fine again. I've had it for around 3 years.
1 Answer Hello Adrian. You need to look for bad or loose connections on the unit first. If none is found, then you need to check the motors in the unit. They could cause the issue you are having in the unit. Read More...
James May 21, 2013 for Model Number CVS36RB downdraft Push the snokel up/down button to activate the unit. Vent comes up and down continously. Wont stop unless you unplug it or push the up/down button. I replaced the up/down button 2 years ago because it would no longer activate the unit at all. It solved that problem at the time.
1 Answer Hello James. You need to check the directional switch in the unit. If it is bad, it will cause the issue you are having. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jeff April 24, 2013 for Model Number Thermador downdraft vent #cvs36r 2 questions - the vent would raise, but the fan would not start. Then the vent started going up just a short distance and stopping. Push the button, and it would go up a bit more. Again and it would head back down. The fan would not start during any of this. Thanks
1 Answer Jeff, Based on the description it sounds like the gears that the vent rides on have stripped out and causing it to stop. This will not allow it to fully engage the limit switch to turn on the fan motor. Read More...
Jeremy R. January 30, 2013 for Model Number Cvs36rs Thermidor I am having intermittent up and down issues. I press the switch and sometimes works perfectly following the commands. Then magically it stops working sometimes. I replaced the up down switch already with the same issue. Should I go after the motor assembly or the up down contact switch? The fan is working fine.
1 Answer Hello Jeremy, The limit switch is normally the part on these that give issues. If you can access it you may find that it has been knocked a bit out of position or the actuating lever on the switch could be bent. Read More...
Joe Z. November 27, 2012 for Model Number thermador cvs36r The on/off button needs to pushed three times in order for the unit to raise. It only requires to be pushed once for the unit to be lowered. Once it is raised, the fan works fine. Is it the on/off switch to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Joe, This sounds like the contacts inside the switch 00189968 are failing. The switch replacement should restore normal operation. Read More...
Jo November 12, 2012 for Model Number cvs30rs thermador downdraft Our downdraft started going up and down on its own yesterday (I had left it in up position, but fan not running while I was cooking). It also started smelling electrical. The vent fits my countertop and corresponding Jennair glass cooktop. Do you think the switch o up/down limiter could have malfunctioned? We had a service call to the cooktop last week, but it seems to be working fine. Odd coincidence that the downdraft would malfunction a week later. Any recommendations on possible repair possibilities versus replacement on a 14-year old appliance?
Dan G. January 24, 2012 for Model Number CVS45RS Ser# 98070224: Hello, my downdraft vent works fine EXCEPT that it does not go up and down. Can you please tell me which parts I need to fix it? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Dan. You will need to test for power to the motor from the switch. If there is power at the motor, and it does not run, you will need to replace the motor 00487567. Hope this helps. Read More...
