The Vent Switch is an OEM replacement part for Bosch range hoods. It is an electronic control device located inside the range hood that regulates the internal vent and fan functions.

Causes of a faulty vent switch can include long-term use in high-heat cooking environments, damage from accidental spills or impacts, or normal component degradation over time.

Symptoms include:

  • Failure of the fan or vents to engage during cooking
  • Variable or inconsistent fan speeds that don't adequately vent smoke
  • Electrical shorting or sparking noises from within the hood control unit

This genuine Bosch replacement part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore range hood models.

Patrick, You will want to check to make sure that the gears are not binding. Other wise if it just hums and does nothing then it sounds like the motor may be faulty.

Jeff, Based on the description it sounds like the gears that the vent rides on have stripped out and causing it to stop. This will not allow it to fully engage the limit switch to turn on the fan motor.

Jo for Model Number cvs30rs thermador downdraft

Our downdraft started going up and down on its own yesterday (I had left it in up position, but fan not running while I was cooking). It also started smelling electrical. The vent fits my countertop and corresponding Jennair glass cooktop. Do you think the switch o up/down limiter could have malfunctioned? We had a service call to the cooktop last week, but it seems to be working fine. Odd coincidence that the downdraft would malfunction a week later. Any recommendations on possible repair possibilities versus replacement on a 14-year old appliance?

Hello Dan. You will need to test for power to the motor from the switch. If there is power at the motor, and it does not run, you will need to replace the motor 00487567. Hope this helps.
