The Vent Switch is an OEM replacement part for Bosch range hoods. It is an electronic control device located inside the range hood that regulates the internal vent and fan functions.

Causes of a faulty vent switch can include long-term use in high-heat cooking environments, damage from accidental spills or impacts, or normal component degradation over time.

Symptoms include:

  • Failure of the fan or vents to engage during cooking
  • Variable or inconsistent fan speeds that don't adequately vent smoke
  • Electrical shorting or sparking noises from within the hood control unit

This genuine Bosch replacement part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore range hood models.

Jerry, If you can get a pair of needle nose pliers on the terminals and kind of rotate the pliers to add force to the connector to get it off is the best way to get them loose.

Hello Lupe, This can be one of several possibilities. You could have a failed winding in the motor, an issue with the harness, a bad relay on the board, or one of the switches could have an issue. This would require a model number from the units' I.D. tag for any further diagnosis. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Gabriel, With the unit not stopping up or down, this would most likely be a directional switch that has failed or wiring that is bad.

Gabriel, With the unit not turning on you will want to check for poor motor terminal connections. Could be a bad speed control, check to make sure that there is power to the unit. Check to make sure that the vent switch is not open. Bad blower winding or bad capacitor. 1. Check the blower motor connections and reseat if necessary. 2. Check for power into and out of the speed control, if there is no power out then replace the speed control. 3. check the breaker. 4. Vent switch should show continuity between the terminals C and N.O. when in up position. replace the switch if checks show contacts are open. 5. check winding for continuity and replace blower if showing open. 6 check capacitor with ohmmeter and replace if open or shorted.

The button on the down vent panel on top of this dual-fuel stove/oven is frozen in the down position. The "down-draft" panel w/ filters is currently in the down position & will not rise. Prior to this problem everything worked well. Is it possibly a frozen switch? With the unit "stuck" in the down position, how do I raise the panel in order to gain access to the switch assembly? My local Thermador dealer said the switch part# = 414538. Is this the same as the Bosch # 2825671 ? Thank you for your help !

Hello JFS. You will access the switch under the unit and sometimes these have to be manually raise when the cover is removed. When you remove the cover under the unit, you should be able to see if you will need to raise the vent manually. Some of these can be replaced without raising the vent. 00414538 is the part number you provided. 2825671 is not a good part number.

Hello Tony, This can be the switch or the fan motor. The switch is the more likely cause.

Rob, The black will be your common, if there are numbers next to the white wires, number 2 would be normally closed and number 3 would be normally open. So between the black and number 2 there should be continuity when not in use and when you push on the switch then black to 3 will be closed and black to 2 will be open. The wires that go to the gear motor are the 2 white which 2 would go to NC and 3 to NO.

Phillip, This issue could be caused by a bad up/down switch, a bad gear motor switch or a possible bad gear motor. You will want to test the gear motor to see if it is getting power to it. If the motor is not getting power then check the gear switch to make sure that it is good. If faulty then replace.
