Robert, To remove the timer knob you will need to access timer inside control panel. On the center back of timer there is a pin that has to be held or pulled out on in order to remove the timer knob.

It would also be helpful to know which knob you are in need of. Hello Alianak. If the unit runs with the knob taped down, you will need to replace the motor on the unit. The switch in the motor is bad and causing the issue you are having with the unit.
