Dean Kolbenstetter for Model Number 79094144310

I've had the large surface switch replaced twice while under warranty. When the large burner is on some times you can hear popping sounds and there is black smokey color around the switch. Could there be a bad wire from the element to the switch causing the switch to go bad so often? I've only had stove for 4 years. the warranty is over in 6 months. If it isn't under warrant the technician would have charged over $300 to put new switch in! I will definitely be ordering a new switch from you!!! Maybe I need additional parts for the problem with the switch. I will wait for your answer before I order a new switch. Thanks for any help!

Dean, make sure the connections on the switch and the element are good an tight. Any loose connections can cause a switch to get hot. Also, make sure it is wired correctly. Many of the newer designs will only let the connection fit one way.

Hello Randy, This will be caused by a bad infinite switch. To determine which is the cause you will need to unplug the unit from the power supply and disconnect all of the wires that connect to the "P" terminals on the switches. Make sure they will not touch anything and power the unit back up. One at a time, touch the wires back to the terminals you removed them from. The one that makes the light come on is the bad infinite switch. It is possible to have more than one with an issue so be sure to check them all.

Hello David. It looks like you remove the screws from the front control panel to access and remove the screws securing the cooktop to the unit. Make sure you have the power disconnected before doing this repair. Thank you.
