Susan, the switch 316436000 and element 316135401 can be tested to identify which part has failed. With the back panel of the console removed, the switch can be tested for voltage by turning the switch on, placing one meter probe at the terminal H1 and the other probe at the terminal H2. If there is 240VAC, the switch is good and the likely failure is the element.

Hello Shirley, the model number supplied uses part number 316436000 for the small elements and the dual element uses switch part number 316238201. If you purchased a large surface switch, it will not be compatible with your model number.

C R, the wires will need to be checked for any bare spots or connections to ground (by testing for continuity to the chassis). If the wiring checks good, then the switch WB21X36771 would be failing by not cycling the element properly based on the information provided.

Daniel, The "220V-50HZ" on the switch indicates the range is an "export model" and located outside the USA. The 240V-60HZ switch is part number [WB24X29364] SWITCH INFINITE CONTROL, and may "work" in your range.
