Ron April 23, 2013 for Model Number Frigidaire Model # GLEF 378CBD I have a Frigidaire electric stove. The dial on the front left switch will not control the low temps, only the high ones. I believe I need the surface unit switch kit, but I'm not certain of the Part number. Please advise.
Jimmey E March 10, 2013 for Model Number FEF352DSD I have a Frigidaire electric stove. The dial on the front left switch one day stopped working. It is like the spring unwound when I tried to turn it on. I believe I need the surface unit switch kit, but I'm not certain. Can you help?
1 Answer Jimmy, You're on target, the infinite switch has failed (internal contacts are bent and/or shorted) Based on the model number you supplied, the left front burner element is a "large" element and will need 316436001 surface element switch, to operate it properly. Read More...
Doug February 19, 2013 for Model Number 79096011407 I have a Kenmore range where the two large surfaces of the cooktop don't turn off. Which part should I replace the Surface Element Switch 316436000 or do I need the Surface Unit Switch Kit 5303935086? What is the difference between these items? Does it matter if it is the large surface or the small surface I'm having an issue with?
1 Answer Hello Doug, You can test the switches by doing a voltage test on the switch in the off positon. If you are getting 240 vac between H1 and H2 on the switches then the switches [5303935086] need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Phil C. December 31, 2012 for Model Number rbs137c The left front burner on this Frigidaire RBS137C cook-top becomes too hot when turned on. Evidently it is not being regulated by whichever part sets the cooking temperature. Please tell me which part I need (I think it's the switch/control) and give me the ordering info. Thanks much and Happy New Year! Phil
Randy L. December 10, 2012 for Model Number 790.96010406 I have a kenmore glass top range and the two large elements on the cook top have runaway problem. My wife will turn one of them on, and it will funtion properly for awhile. You can see the element pulsate as the temperature is being regulated, but then all of the sudden the element will come on and not turn off. It like it has been turned to high but it hasn't. Most of the time you can turn it off and back on and it will work for awhile. I once had to go to the breaker panel and turn off the oven breaker because the thing wouldn't shut off. After that we removed the knob so it couldn't be used on that burner. Thanks for the help.
1 Answer Randy, Your post information would indicate you need the burner infinite switch(s) 5303935086 for both large (8" burner elements). The L2 to H2 circuit in the switch(s) cause the element to cycle off and on. The internal bi metal switch is failing and sticking closed causing the element to remain on the " HI" setting. Kim November 05, 2012 for Model Number RB131CW-1 I need to order a surface unit switch kit. Is this something I can install myself or will I need to have an appliance repairman take care of it? I don't know how to get underneath to replace it...the plate holding the knobs doesn't lift up.
1 Answer Hi. The breakdown shows 2-screws holding down the switch plate cover. The infinite switch part # 5303935086 has a "P" terminal for the Pilot wire that lights a surface light to let you know the top is unsafe to touch. It also has a "L-1" > "H-1" & "L-2" > "H-2" terminals. Make sure you transfer the original wires to the new switch. Use a magnifying glass to see the old switch terminals if needed. There is a wiring diagram under the unit folded in a packet. Thank You. Read More...
Scott S. September 27, 2012 for Model Number 31-3969-23/04 ser.# VE or VF05117087, based on previous question you informed me my control board was bad, however I can not find it on your parts breakdown. Can you please provide me a part # and cost to purchase from you please?
1 Answer Scott, the electronic board is part number 5303271427. Unfortunately it has discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available and our company is unaware of any other available sources. Sorry about that! Read More...
Scott S September 27, 2012 for Model Number 31-3969-23/04 My serial # is VE OR VF05117087. My question is; when I push the oven temp button and turn the temp knob to set the temp, it sits for about 8 seconds then shuts off. I have in the past been able to repeat and it would sometimes catch and work, however It will no longer do that for me. Are you able to tell me what part I would need to fix?
1 Answer Hello Scott. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Doug R. September 21, 2012 for Model Number 13-2626-00-10 I have a rear left buner on a Tapan cook range that would not get hot. I replaced the element with one of the other elements and it still did not get hot. I ordered a new switch and installed it. The burner worked but the pilot light would not go on for just that element. The other switches did light the the pilot. I assumed the new switch was also defective and aske for a replacement. I installed the replacement switch. Now none of the switches have their pilot light come on.The switch I replaced comes on when switched to high but no heat when using the adjustable part of the switch. The voltage between the P and L1 connections are at 24V with the pilot wire disconnected. Please advise.
1 Answer Hi Doug. On the back of the surface switches there is a "P" letter designating that the pilot lights are all wired in series from one p-terminal to the other. Make sure to use all black L-1 wires to the corresponding terminals. Follow the internal wiring diagram. All red H-2 wires connect there. They both then proceed to the next switch daisy chained together. This is the one - 120vac feed. The red L-2 is the other feed. The H-1 takes the closed switch L-1 feed to the burner. The H-2 takes the red l-2 feed to the burner. The p- sends the closed switch voltage to the surface lights. Infinite switch part # 5303935086. Make sure all wires are isolated from each other as it is very tight inside the cook top switch area. Use black electrical tape in between each terminal if need be. Thank You. Read More...
Ray June 14, 2012 for Model Number 79095329302 The right front Large element stopped working. The "element on" light illumnates but there is no heat from element, regardless of the setting. It is a rental so I don't have any previous history, the tenants said it stopped working just before they moved out. Could it be the switch behind the dial, burner, or infinite switch? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Ray. You will need to test and see if there is power coming to the element. If there is power there, and the element does not work, you will need to replace the element in the unit. If there is no power there, and the switch is turned on, you will need to replace the infinite switch 5303935086 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
