The Surface Unit Switch Kit is an OEM part for Frigidaire ranges. It controls the power and heat levels to the surface burners on the cooktop, allowing you to adjust the temperature for cooking. This kit typically includes the necessary components to replace a faulty switch and restore proper functionality to the burners.

Causes of a bad surface unit switch can include electrical malfunctions, wear and tear from regular use, or damage due to spills or impacts. A faulty switch can prevent the burner from heating correctly or at all.

Symptoms of a bad surface unit switch include:

  • Burners not heating up or heating unevenly
  • Inability to adjust the burner temperature
  • Burners not turning on or off properly
  • Sparks or electrical odors near the switch

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Doug W. for Model Number Frigidaire FEFL79GSA

The burner control switch does not reliably regulate the left front burner. It is intermittant. It sometimes stays at full heat in the "mid" position and sometimes does not shut off when in the off position. The switch part number in the stove is 316021501 or QE214312. If there is no direct replacement switch, could you please supply the replacement part number and the correct wire connections if the terminal positions are not identical? Thank you! Doug

Keith J. for Model Number RB-131L-CH

I have a Frigidaire electric cooktop model number RB-131L-CH (circa 1972). My wife was cooking with it the other night, heard a pop near the heating element controls, and now the red light (that only used to be lit when power was applied to one of the elements) is now continuously on. I inspected the circuit connecting the four heating element switches and saw no obvious damage or disconnection, so I assume something broke in one of the switches. It's anybody's guess whether its the large element switch or the small element switch. While I'd rather stick to switches closer to the original, a universal switch may be wiser in this situation. Do you think the problem here is a bad switch? Could you provide part numbers for the appropriate original switch replacements for the large (switch Model 72713, Style 7521245, 10-11.5A) & small (switch Model 71274, Style 7532999, 4.4-5.5A) as well as the appropriate universal replacement switch? Thanks.
