For Ge Refrigerator Control Board Encoder Assembly (Part Number: OEM9421122)

Bob, You will want to check the main control board pins J7-1 to J7-9 to ensure there is 120 vac going to the auger motor. If there is an influx of power then the control board would be faulty and if there is only 120 vac then it is just a bad motor.

Hello Wayne, The first thing to check is to see if you have frost building on the back wall of freezer compartment. If you have frost build on the wall or impacted coils (with frost) behind the walls then you have a defrost failure. You will need to do a continuity check on the defrost thermostat WR50X10068 and defrost heater WR51X10055. If either does not continuity then that part needs to be replaced. If both check good then you would want to replace the evaporator thermistor WR55X10025 and control board WR55X10942C. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Bill, The Encoder board is basically your temp control. Yes, the encoder could cause high temps. You should check to make sure that your compressor is running. If it is not running then you would want to check the start relay to make sure it is not bad. You also want to make sure that you are not having heavy frost on the back wall of freezer and evaporator coils being impacted with ice.

Hi. From what you described, you are low in freon. - Do you see a Ice ball build up at the area where the frost stops on the coils? If so then this is know generally as a restriction and the evaporator coils part # WR87X29147, Drier filter part # WR86X25269 and all new freon replaced. All - done by a licensed refrigeration technician. Thank You.

Hello Scott, The most common issue on this design unit is the defrost heater assembly WR51X10101. If this doesn't take care of the issue, you will need to check the defrost thermostat WR50X10068. If this isn't the issue, change the evaporator temperature sensor WR55X10025 and the main board WR55X10942C. You will have to defrost the unit with a hair dryer to rid the unit of any frost build-up because the defrost circuit can only defrost the amount of frost build-up between defrost cycles. It cannot melt away a major ice build-up. GSS20IEPAWW

Hi Scott. There are four major components in a defrost system , the defrost thermostat WR50X10068 is the most likely part to go bad , the next thing is the mother board WR55X10942C then the sensors WR55X10025 read the temperature , the heater WR51X10101 does the defrosting, and is the easiest to check with a TJMA-DMT3 multi meter, this is the order that I always go in. If you have a multi meter you can do this by checking each component at the board. Thank you
