Mike for Model Number J KP90S P4SS

Suddenly out of blue No Previous Warning ... Get 3 long beeps and the display message "Service May Be Required... Keyboard Short". Sound simple... but do I need "Control Panel" AP5318919 AND "Main Control Board AP4508655 ? Seems strange that the keyboard would "short" when nobody touched it for several days.. This is why I am asking if "main control board" has something to do with it since looks like that is where all the capacitors and bains of this unit is housed....

1 Answer

Mike, This issue would be caused by a shorted key in the key panel/control panel WB27T11340. It is possible that is something that was on its way out and finally gave way to short out.

Hello John, the microwave is basically a countertop model mounted to the top of a wall oven, as such the wall oven would have to be uninstalled, the microwave's outer case removed and using a multimeter test the main fuse, cavity thermostat, and for 120v to the control board.

Art for Model Number JKP90SP4SS

The control buttons on my microwave work fine the 1st time I run the microwave. However, any subsequent attempts to run the microwave and the buttons are unresponsive. I have to wait 2 or 3 minutes before they become active again. If I open the door, then the buttons are active, but closing the door again makes them dormant and thus the "Start" button won't work for any times I've input with the door open. Do I need a new control panel WB27T11340 or new control board WB27T11249 or both?

1 Answer

Art, You will want to test the door switches to make sure that they are good. This would be the most likely cause of this issue. If the door switches check ok then the control board would be the reason for intermittent operation of the touchpad.

Nicholas, when the microwave shuts down will it start back up immediately? If not, the magnetron may be getting hot and shutting down through the safety thermostat that is on the outside of the mag. tube.
