Rick September 08, 2013 for Model Number GE profile tot load washer coupling agitators teeth are not engaging looks like some kind of spacer has rusted out. so i put two small washers inside of the coupling to keep the coupling from going down all the way, that has kept the teeth engaged and the agitators working again.. My queistion is is there a spacer washer washer that gos on the shaft before the coupling agitator goes on?

The belt seems to be working fine.We took the agitator off. I did take the agitator coupling off but didn't notice any problem.I will take it off again and see if it is stripped. Any other suggestions if that is not the problem? Thanks

Christine November 02, 2012 for Model Number GE Top loading Model # WJSR4160DW Having problems with the agitator not wanting to agitate. At times it will start to agitate then slow down while makeing a noise & then come to a complete stop. This was happening on the Normal/Fast cycle . When I washed on the Gentle/ fast cycle it didnt seem to be doing that at first. Today I was able to watch with the lid up & it is doing it on all cycles. I noticed the More items I put in the washer the worse it got also. There were only a few items in it. I even thought it might be in the knob & or timing because if I wiggles the Knob it would start to agitate again slowly. The back panel, Knob area has always made a humming noise ever since we got the washer. I can take my palm & hit it & the noise would stop. Everything else works just fine Like filling with water, spinning, rinsing etc. Just does NOT want to agitate. Any Help would be deeply appreciated. I have 4 grandkids & 4 others living with me & not having a working washer is NOT good right now! Thanks!!
1 Answer Hi. Remove the agitator and look under it to see if the agitator coupler part # WH43X10032 is not cracked or broken needing replaced. If not then press down on the agitator to see if the noise gets worse when pressing it down then the transmission part # WH38X10002 is bad. It will sound like gears trashing against one another. You may have 2 -different issues. The humming noise at the timer part # WH12X10255 may not be allowing the contacts to send the voltage to the motor.
