Bill V January 27, 2015 for Model Number ge dts181cswrww freezer question? when freezer defrost, ice cubes melt into a solid mass and food has ice and frost on them. It seems the defroster is getting to warm and then freezing, Defrost thermostat or defrost timer?
1 Answer Bill, first check and make sure both the doors are closing and sealing properly, the interior light is going out when the door is closed, and there aren't to many open containers. If all's OK, check or replace the defrost thermostat WR50X10025 it could be "sticking" and causing the heaters to remain on too long. Read More...
Harvey November 26, 2014 for Model Number CTX14AYXLRWH Why does fridge only cool down to 45 to 50 degrees? Compressor does not get hot.
1 Answer Hello Harvey. Look and see if there is a frost pattern on the evaporator coils. If not, then there is a sealed system issue and you will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit. If there is a good frost pattern, then the condenser fan motor will need to be checked and make sure the condenser coils are clean. Read More...
Al November 03, 2014 for Model Number GTS18HBMDRWW Helllo, The compressor on this GE fridge runs but does not get cold. The defrost coil is OK. The defrost timer appears to be OK but might have been stuck. I turned the timer manually to check the contacts (ohm meter) and it felt like it was stuck initially. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Al. If the compressor is running, but the unit does not cool and there is not frost pattern on the coils, then you have a sealed system failure and will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit. Read More...

Wf July 09, 2014 for Model Number TBX21ZKCR I have a model TBX21ZKC fridge. I want to run the test on the timer, but not sure how to get to it. I know it is inside the fridge where the temp controls are. I'm assuming I need to remove that panel that covers the temp controls and the timer should be there somewhere handy? How do I get to the timer, remove it, and replace it?
1 Answer WF, Yes, the control panel will need to be removed by removing the screw on the left side. Once off the timer will be located in a metal case on the right hand side in which you will need to remove the screw holding it in place and pull out. Read More...
Woodlake June 27, 2014 for Model Number ksra22ilss13 Ice maker is not working and it is all iced up or may be frost I took apart ice maker and deiced it and checked with T and H jumper didnt work. What should I do to make sure that ice maker is dead and also I could not locate defrost timer any help appreciated.
1 Answer Woodlake, Getting the unit to go into the icemaking mode on this unit is not as easy as putting a jumper between T and H. The first thing that you will want to do is check the emitter board. When you open the freezer door there should be a light that flashes. Making sure that the lever is in the on position, push the flapper on the left side and see if the light stops flashing. If the light continues to flash then the emitter board is faulty and would need to be replaced. The unit also does not have a defrost timer and incorporates a electronic control for the defrost. Cindy May 06, 2014 for Model Number GSH25JFTA WW My water line to dispense water keeps freezing up and I have to defrost the refrigerator once a week. This happened in the past, I believe GE had someone replace the defroster. Where is the defroster located and is this the problem?
1 Answer Hello Cindy, The first thing you should try is setting the freezer temperature setting to one number COLDER. This will increase air flow inside the unit and prevent the cold air from settling to the bottom and freezing items that shouldn't freeze. If this doesn't correct the issue, you will need to order service kit number WR49X10173. This is a water line heater designed to prevent the water line from freezing. Read More...
