The Fill Cap Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This assembly includes the cap that covers the opening where rinse aid or other additives are poured into the dishwasher. It ensures that the additives are securely contained and properly dispensed during the wash cycles, contributing to effective cleaning and drying.

Over time, the fill cap assembly can become damaged due to regular use, exposure to cleaning agents, or accidental mishandling. A compromised fill cap can lead to leaks or improper dispensing of rinse aid, affecting the dishwasher's performance.

Symptoms of a bad fill cap assembly include:

  • Rinse aid or additives leaking from the dispenser
  • The cap not securing properly or coming off easily
  • Improper dispensing of rinse aid
  • Visible cracks or damage to the cap

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Fill Cap Assembly (Part Number: OEM13170039)

Gerald A. for Model Number GSD640D-03

I am quite certain that the cap I need is this one but I am not certain whether or not the cap is the problem or the tank for the rise aid. It appears that the cap will not screw into the tank and will just go in without connecting to anything and obviously will not stay in the way it should. How can I tell where the threads are stripped or must I dismantle the inside of the door to determine this? Thanks for any help or suggestions you can give me.

Hello Gerald. Look and see if the cap assembly WD12X10284 is stripped out or if the tank assembly WD35X10346 is stripped out on the unit. Then you will order the correct part based on the findings you discover. Hope this helps.

Hi Newbob. Where is the leak coming from. 1- Is it coming from the inside of the inner door panel? If so Then the rinse aid cap part # is WD12X10284. If it is coming out inbetween the door (middle area)bottom then the rinse aid tank is part # WD35X10346. Thank you.

Hello Scott! Yes, WD12X10284 is the rinse aid cap. You should be able to use any rinse aid. If you have hard water, you will need to use a extra detergent (typically one teaspoon for each grain over 12). If you do not have hard water make sure you are using the proper amount of detergent called for the load type and size. Hope this information helps you!
