Grandpa Budley August 23, 2013 for Model Number GE GTDP520EDOWW Our new GE dryer came with a plastic lint filter (WE18M25/WE18M53) that allows way too much lint to pass through. I would like to know if the WE18M28 lint screen and frame assembly shown on your website has wire screen mesh with a plastic frame. Please don't tell me it will not fit our dryer as I replaced the original with one of these and it works perfect, I just want to have an extra on hand. Thank you very much.

Dave August 22, 2013 for Model Number dblr333ge2ww Hi, My dryer keeps melting the lint filter...had a tech come out and tell me the dryer is not over heating...he said I should have a metal or aluminum lint filter...does one exsist for this model? I can't seem to find one. Thanks.
1 Answer Dave, the manufacturer does not offer a metal or aluminum lint filter. The lint filter is plastic, part number WE18X25100. If the dryer is continuosly melting the lint filter you more than likely have an issue with the heating with the dryer. Make sure the dryer venting and home venting is not kinked or clogged. Also check the gas valve part number WE14M114, if its stuck open during the entire drying cycle it'll cause a larger flame which will go into the ducting of the dryer and cause the unit to overheat and the filter to melt.
