This float switch detects rising water in the refrigerator drain pan or lower cabinet area and signals the appliance control to help prevent overflow and water damage. Use it to replace a failed or intermittent water-level sensor. What it does:

  • Senses high water level in the drain pan or collection area and closes the circuit to alert the control.
  • Helps identify causes of leaks and pooling under or behind the appliance.
  • Commonly used when symptoms include water on the floor, drip pan overflow, or water-related error/alert conditions.
  • Matches OEM function for refrigeration units that include a float-based water-detection circuit.
What's included: One float switch. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before starting any repairs; shut off the water supply if working near water lines.
  • Access may require removing lower kick plate or back panel; handle plastic clips and fasteners carefully.
  • Disconnect electrical connector gently and note orientation before installing the replacement; secure wiring and verify float moves freely.
  • Restore power and run a short test cycle or simulate water level to ensure proper operation.

Hello Andrew. If the drain solenoid is not opening to drain, then check the wiring. If the wiring is good, then you will need to replace the control timer WD21X10201 on the unit.

John for Model Number GSD2200Z02AD

First I noticed that the dishes weren't getting clean. Then I opened the door during the wash cycle and saw that there was not enough water in the bottom. Then I listened during the fill phase right after I set the dial to "start", and I can hear it start to fill and then almost immediately drain. Still filling, then drain again. I checked the flood float, and it is not fouled nor stuck in the up position. If I lift it, I can hear a click. Up, click, down, click. Even though the switch is clicking, I suspect that the flood switch has gone bad. Should I replace the flood switch, or do you think it is something else? Thanks, John

Hello John. It sounds like the drain solenoid WD21X802 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. It is not closing all the way.

Pam, You will want to check the spray arms to ensure that they are not cracked, broken or clogged. If this is the case then the spray arm will force water into the lower part of the tub and create a wave action which will cause leaking.

Hello Darrell, This sounds like you either have a screen down in the pump assembly stopped up, or the pump impeller has broken or separated from the motor shaft. The best fix for the latter is replacement of the pump and motor assembly WD26X10013 since most cause leaks when an attempt is made to rebuild the assembly.

Hello Rae, Two things you need to do. First, inspect the spray arms for any separations along the sides. A split spray arm will throw a "wave" in the water which will cause the water to "slosh" over the front of the tub. The second thing you should do is run a sanitation cycle with no dishes, no detergent, and a cleaner such as dishwasher magic TJ104 to clear out any over soaping that could have occurred over time. I don't think the float switch will help.
