The Ice Bucket Assembly is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It collects and stores ice produced by the ice maker, ensuring a steady supply of ice is readily available for use. This assembly includes the bucket itself, along with any necessary components to fit securely within the freezer.

The ice bucket assembly may need to be replaced if it becomes cracked, damaged, or no longer fits properly. Causes of a bad ice bucket assembly can include general wear and tear, dropping or mishandling the bucket, or exposure to harsh temperatures causing the plastic to degrade.

Symptoms of a bad ice bucket assembly include:

  • Cracks or visible damage to the bucket
  • Ice not being properly stored or dispensed
  • The bucket not fitting securely in its designated place
  • Leaks or ice buildup around the bucket area

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Ben, It does sound like the icemaker bucket may be frozen in place. There is no easy way to get it out except to try to pull really hard on it or to let the unit thaw out in order to get it out.

Al, The only option that could be though of would be to get a long screwdriver and try to slide it under the icemaker to lift it up in order to get it high enough to get the icemaker from the bin.

Jen for Model Number HR560550

Received this replacement ice bucket from a appliance repair shop, but it didn't fit into my GE refrigerator. It looked the same from the front, but the back had an extra little plastic piece on it and there was a square plastic piece at the top just behind the front of the bucket -- different from the original. It wouldn't allow the bucket to insert all the way and latch. My original tray has plastic rotating to push the ice forward and this new one is metal. How can I find one made like the original (without the additional plastic pieces)? I checked your site and you are showing the same as the one I just received that doesn't work even though your site says it does.

Jen, First we're going to need a proper model and serial number of your refrigerator, so we can check and verify that the correct part has been ordered. We may need it if we have to contact the manufacturer. At this point the original ice bucket [WR29X10076] has been "substituted" by the manufacturer by part number [WR29X10097]/WR29X10097, There maybe a visible difference in the changes, but the bin should work in your refrigerator. We'd appreciate the model number(at least) so we can assist you properly and efficiently, Thanks

Hello ASD, The ice bin would not cause unit to not make ice unless the ice bin is not seated properly. The icemaker would more than likely be the cause unless there is a loose connection of the wire harness.

Michael, the ice bucket assembly WR29X10097 is the manufacturer replacement to the original bucket that originally came with your product. If the original was already replaced then this part will be the same as your current ice bucket now. Thanks!
