This refrigerator ice maker assembly freezes water and automatically ejects cubes into the bin. Replacing a failed unit restores steady, hands-free ice production and helps resolve common ice maker cycling and cube-ejection issues.

  • Freezes water in its mold, then harvests and drops finished cubes into the ice bin
  • Controls fill and harvest timing for consistent cube production
  • Typical failure symptoms: no ice production, unit stuck mid-cycle, cubes not ejecting, or loud clicking/grinding from the drive
  • Works with the refrigerator's controls to pause ice making when the bin is full
What's included: Ice maker assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing
  • Remove the ice bin and any covers; unmount the old ice maker and disconnect its wiring harness
  • Transfer any brackets, covers, or guides from the old unit if needed
  • Mount the new assembly, reconnect wiring, restore power/water, and allow up to 24 hours for full ice production
Tip: Check the water inlet valve and the fill tube for blockages or ice.

For Ge Ice Maker Assembly (Refrigerator) (Part Number: OEM20501937)

Craig for Model Number CFSP5RKBSS

In door ice maker CAN37 stopped making ice. Refrigerator temp 39, Freezer temp 0... tested with independent thermometer. Air vent blowing into the ice unit was registering under 10 degrees with the door open... so probably under 5 degrees when i'm not tinkering around in there. Water is in ice tray not frozen. Ice left in bin stays frozen. Is this thing stuck in dump mode where heater melts ice a bit to push out of tray into bin? Is there any way to test or fix part of the ice maker without replacing the entire unit? The sensor arm is splayed out from under the ice cuber which I think is correct. Any ideas? Craig :)

Craig, You would want to check the location of the fingers on the icemaker, If they are in about the 9 oclock position then it is the right starting position. This does sound like it would be caused by a faulty icemaker on the unit. The part number for the icemaker is WR30X28693.

Hello Rick. If temp is 0 to 5 in the freezer, then the icemaker is bad and will need to be replaced.

Hello Tim. If the water is not freezing solid, then the temp is not 0. You will need to get the temp down to 0 to see if the icemaker is bad. It will not cycle unless the temp is 0 to 5°.

Hello Skip. The valve is in the back WR57X33326. If the icemaker is overfilling, replace the water valve. However, if the icemaker is leaking, just replace the icemaker.

Brian, There is a thermostat on the icemaker that if it has failed then it will cycle during the manual cycle and fill with water but will not dump the ice. This would be a icemaker issue and will need to be replaced.

Hello Steve, Looking at the part you were looking at it appears you may need to replace the water valve. This is rather unclear since we really need the model number of the unit the icemaker is inside. This will be on the units' I.D. tag just above the serial number. I'm sorry but this is necessary for us to give a proper diagnosis. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Jdub305, With the issue of the ice compartment not getting cold enough. When you push the light switch on the unit the fan in the freezer that sends cold air to the ice room should come on. One of the vents should have cold air coming out and the other is the return. You will want to check to make sure that this fan is operational. If the fan is not functioning then test to see if it is getting power to it. If it is then the motor will need to be replaced.

Hello Tim. It is easy. The icemaker is attached to the back wall of the ice compartment with two 1/4-in. hex-head screws. The icemaker connects to a receptacle located on the auger motor housing.
