The Range Surface Burner Control Switch is an OEM part for GE ranges. This switch manages the temperature of the surface burners on your range, providing the ability to adjust the heat level. Whether you're simmering sauces or boiling water, the control switch ensures precise temperature management, enhancing your cooking experience.

The causes of a faulty burner control switch often include prolonged use leading to wear on the electrical contacts, exposure to moisture causing short circuits, or physical damage from impact or excessive force when turning the knob.

Symptoms of a bad surface burner control switch:

  • The burner not turning on or off
  • Inability to adjust the heat level, with the burner staying at one temperature regardless of the knob setting.
  • Intermittent burner function

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Range Surface Burner Control Switch (Part Number: OEM6072237)

Timothy, the hot surface indicator would come on only if one of the surface elements reach a temperature around 200°F and would only stay on if the thermal limiter contact in the element is stuck in the closed position. The burner on light would only stay on if one of the switches has a stuck contact from the incoming L1 to the surface light on terminal.

Donnie, there should be two screws on the panel just below the cover plate that would need to be removed as they secure the brackets to the panel.

Brandon E. for Model Number JBP62WD1WW

I went to use the oven last night and found that it wasn't working. The bottom element is not heating up at all. I replaced the element 15 months ago and it's been working fine, however, when I turn it on, the broiler turns on but does not fully heat up. I tried the broiler function and it works fine. Flipped the breaker on and off and no change. Will check the element for continuity and the control panel to make sure that everything is connected fully. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hello Brandon, If the element is good and there are no connection issues, the problem will be a bad relay on the control board WB27K10026.

Greg, The infinite switch needs replaced but only one is faulty and some testing is required. The switches have markings on them where the wires go. You will need to test each one with no power to unit and the switch in the off position. When you found the switch that has continuity from P to L1 that is the faulty switch.
