The Range Surface Burner Control Switch is an OEM part for GE ranges. This switch manages the temperature of the surface burners on your range, providing the ability to adjust the heat level. Whether you're simmering sauces or boiling water, the control switch ensures precise temperature management, enhancing your cooking experience.

The causes of a faulty burner control switch often include prolonged use leading to wear on the electrical contacts, exposure to moisture causing short circuits, or physical damage from impact or excessive force when turning the knob.

Symptoms of a bad surface burner control switch:

  • The burner not turning on or off
  • Inability to adjust the heat level, with the burner staying at one temperature regardless of the knob setting.
  • Intermittent burner function

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Right front dual burners, which are controlled by a switch that has settings for large and small burners, turns burners on high no matter where I set the switches. I swapped the right front switch with the left front switch to see if the problem went with the switch. The problem went with the switch. Left front burners are not working correctly now and right front burners are working fine. Is this the correct switch that I need to order for my problem? Thank you in advance. Galen

Last week the hot surface light and the burner on light did not shut off. I replaced one burner element (8") but that did not make a difference. Today, I used a multimeter to test the burner switches. I pull the wiring from each switch and tested L1 and H1, L2 and H2, and P and H1. Each one appears to be working properly. I made sure the wiring was replaced per each switch (I took pictures and made sketches). I went to the panel and turned the stove circuit back on. When I came back to the kitchen, the burner on light and hot surface light were not on. When I tried each switch the two lights came on and went off when the burner was shut off and later when the surface cooled. My concern is "what fixed it?" I will continue to keep the circuit shut off at the panel when the range is not in use.

Hello Timothy, the cooktop "ON" light is powered through the burner's control switch, and the "HOT SURFACE" indicator light is powered by a switch built into the cooktop element. These circuits are jumpered together so if either indicator light is lit when it should not be, the faulty switch or burner would need to be located and replaced. Sometimes if the switch or burner is bumped, the contacts can open and the light turns off.

Kevin, It sounds like the element is not being regulated on temperature and this will be a faulty switch causing the issue. THe part number for the switch is WB24T10027.

Missing a number in the model number. Check your unit tag for the full model number. Most of that series uses WB24X25013 for the front right burner.

Susan Peters for Model Number EER3000H00BB

Hi, have been having trouble with the largest burner (dual burner) of my GE Eterna stove, vintage 2003 or 2004. It has been slow to heat and I'd gotten in the habit of putting it on high (to get it moving), then turning it down to cook. Now, it seems overly hot on all settings and there is a very definite burning, electrical smell. Questions: (1) Does the burner control switch need to be replaced? (2) Or is it the large haliant element or both? (3) What is the difference between a radiant element and a haliant element? Thanks for your help. Look forward to a solution to the problem! Susan

Susan, This issue of not being able to regulate the temperature would be caused by a faulty switch.
