Manufacturer Part Number: WR08X10025

This OEM Replacement Part is a compressor overload that attaches to the GE refrigerator compressors. It acts as a safety switch, shutting off the compressor motor if overheating or excessive current draw is detected. This protects the compressor from damage. Over time, the original overload may malfunction, causing insufficient cooling inside the fridge. Replacing a faulty overload restores proper temperature regulation and food safety. This manufacturer-supplied part meets original specifications and may rattle slightly when shaken, which is normal.

For Ge Compressor Overload (Part Number: OEM10265055)

Michele for Model Number GE PSS26NSWA SS

The coils in the back of the freezer behind the panel are showing heavy frost. The refrigerator and the freezer are unable to cool to temp when these coils are frozen. If I use a blow dryer and melt the ice, both the refreigerator and freezer start cooling more efficiently again. I've repeated this process a few times. It is only a few days before I have to melt the ice buildup again. Also, before this happened, the water dispenser would occasionally stop working (freezing up?). Before that, the ice maker stopped working. I don't care so much about the ice maker, but we really do need this unit to cool properly. Eventually we plan to replace the unit, but not for a few years if we can make it last. Please a help! What part do I need to replace? I have pictures if needed... thanks!

Michele, You will want to test the defrost heater for continuity, test the thermistor for resistance while in ice of 42.2K ohms of resistance and the thermostat for continuity. Replace the parts that do not have continuity or the correct resistance. If these check ok then the issue will be a faulty main control board.

Hello Andy. If the compressor is running, then the start device is good. It sounds like the sealed system is failing on the unit and may need to be looked at by an HVAC tech.

Hello Tim. No, the overload will not cause the compressor to run hot. You will need to clean the condenser coils and check the condenser fan motor on the unit.

Scott, It is a good possibility that the relay for the unit may be bad if you are also hearing a clicking noise. Other than the relay it would more likely be the control.

Hello Lee! The overload used on refrigerators protects the compressor from overheating and also stops the compressor from starting in high amperage conditions. Thanks!
