Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17364564)

1 Answer

Hello Keith, First thing to check is to make sure that there is a good water filter in unit. Next check the fill tube for the icemaker to ensure that the fill tube is not frozen. If frozen clear ice from tube. This would inicate a bad valve that is allowing water to seep through even though it does not call for it. If tube is not frozen then you would want to check to make sure that you are getting 120 vac to the water valve WR57X33326 when icemaker calls for water. If you are not then you would need to replace icemaker WR30X10093. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Edwin, The water filter that should go in refrigerator section is MWFP. You may want to check to see if you are getting water at bottom of door. Remove kick plate and there is a water line with a fitting on it. It may be a compression fitting in which you would push in on one side and pull on the water line on the same side. After releasing the water line push the dispenser lever to see if water comes out. If water comes out then you have a frozen water line in the freezer door. There is a heater kit WR49X10173 that you can get to correct this. Keep in mind it will take a couple of days to thaw after installing kit.

Aron for Model Number GE Model #TFX26PPDABB

I am ordering shelves for an ice maker that broke. I looked at the water filter to see if it needs to be changed. The date on the Culligan filter is Jun 2001, I think it might need to be changed, what do you think? HA! The part number on the filter Cartridge is FXRC, but I think it has been discontinued. From what I have read today an adapter is required. Which GE filter is the correct one to purchase, as it seems I see two different filters listed?

Hello Aron! If you have never replaced the water filter and will be using the MWF filter, part number MWFP, the adapter ADAPTER will be needed. Thanks!

Hello Janet, You either have a bad seal, a bad filter, or a bad filter tube assembly. Most of the time, unless you didn't changed the filter when the leak started, the filter is defective from the manufacturer. If you have the bypass plug, you can install it to see if the problem is past the filter. If you haven't changed the filter, the issue is with the filter and tube assembly WR02X45209.
