John, This is the part numbers used for the GE water filters, the water filter part # MWF has superseded to MWFP. The new filters have an upgraded filtration and improved consumer-focused packaging.

Linda, Check to make sure that there are no drawers or shelving that is pushed out too far and not allowing the door to close. Also, check to make sure that there is no ice on the floor of the freezer which could cause the door to not close properly. Check the cam at the bottom of the door to make sure that it is not damaged or cracked. If all of these things are ok then the door seal would be the likely issue.

Hello Linda. The part number for the water filter is AP5788185 . You can watch the repair video that is attached to the part listing. If your old water filter looks exactly like the new one just screw it in. If you have the metal canister or totally different locking base, you'll need to install the adapter p/n AP2615702. And don't forget to drain first 4-5 cups of water before using it. Thank you.
