Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17364564)

1 Answer

Frank, water should come out of the dispenser shortly after engaging. However, air would be released first as the air from inside of the filter would have to be removed before a steady stream of water will come out (generally around 2 gallons of water would need to be dispensed before all the air is removed). Water should start coming out within 30 seconds along with air pockets. For more accurate information and testing information, the model number would be required in a new inquiry.

Andrea, Other than turning off the water supply, to stop the leak, and turning off the ice maker(lever on the bottom of the side of the control head) to insure it doesn't accidentally energize and starts to operate, you wouldn't need to do anything else, and the refrigerator should work normally. You can also remove the filter, but do not install the "bypass plug", this will eliminate the water supply to the water dispenser and tank.
