Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Water Filter (Part Number: OEM17364564)

Hello Dave, thank you for contacting APP, When clearing the lines of the unit after replacing the filter it is recommended by the manufacturer to dispense at least 1.5 gallons of water to clear the lines in the unit of any air bubbles, if there are air bubbles in the lines this can sometimes cause the Water Reservoir WR17X11324 behind the crisper drawers in the Refrigerator Section to freeze and would need to be thawed out and then purged to remove any remaining air bubbles. If the reservoir is not frozen then the Filter Head WR02X45209 or the Water Valve WR57X33326 may have failed.

Christine, The MWF filter will be the correct filter for your unit and you will want to make sure that it is screwed down completely. If it is but nothing flowing through it and the water is turned on then it sounds like there is a problem with the filter head and the filter head will need to be replaced. This would be part number WR02X45206.

Debbie, the manufacturer recommends that the water filter MWFP be replaced every 6 months. The flashing light is used to indicate that the filter needs to be changed out and once changed, the reset button would be pressed and held to reset the filter timer.

Henry, it is possible that the o-ring has swelled and is causing the filter to have tension when attempting to remove it. If the filter will not pull free once it has been rotated to the unlock position, the filter head 5230JA2003A and filter 5231JA2006A would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued the filter head and it is no longer available.

Linda, Check to make sure that there are no drawers or shelving that is pushed out too far and not allowing the door to close. Also, check to make sure that there is no ice on the floor of the freezer which could cause the door to not close properly. Check the cam at the bottom of the door to make sure that it is not damaged or cracked. If all of these things are ok then the door seal would be the likely issue.
