Jim November 03, 2016 for Model Number DBSR463GG8 I need to fix or replace my rotary start switch. The last time I tried to use my GE dryer, the knob came off when I tried to rotate the switch to start the dryer. The knob is not broken and there is no piece of the shaft in the knob either. I heard the switch fall in the control panel housing. I watched your repair video and there are some differences. The four panel mounting screws are screwed into the aluminum back and not down into the back of the porcelain panel. Also, the screws look like they take a square bit instead of the Torx 20 indicated in your video. The dryer is not easy to access the back side but screws and top control panel can be accessed by leaning over dryer. Have to disconnect the attached flexible metal hose to move dryer out into room (it is next to the washer in an enclosure) and possibly even have to disconnect the gas line at the union. I am hoping that the rotary start switch mounting tab came loose and then the switch came completely loose when I turned the switch knob. According to your repair video, I would only have to remount the switch if the switch is OK. If the switch is broken, then I will have to order a new one. First: Can I remove the panel cover on this model by removing the four screws at the rear top of the aluminum back plate that seem to attach the aluminum back to the panel but not sure? Second: What is the chance that the switch came loose and is not broken? Thanks for any help you can provide. Jim Mayes
