Mike March 28, 2016 for Model Number GE clothes dryer (Model # DPSR610EG7WT). I have an electric GE clothes dryer (Model # DPSR610EG7WT). My wife was using it this AM with no issues. After removing a couple of items, she closed the door and the dryer wouldn't start when the START button is pressed. It initially hummed when pressed; it now does nothing. The unit is plugged in, and no circuit breakers are tripped. I suspect the start switch is bad. Your web-site offered a GE WE4M519 rotary switch as a replacement. However when I checked if it would work in our dryer, your web-site said it won't work in our model. What do I do now?
1 Answer Mike, The start switch showing for the model listed is WE4M145 which unfortunately has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement available. I would suggest testing the switch to see if it has continuity when pushed in. If there is continuity then the switch is good. If not then the switch is faulty. In most cases the switch will not be the problem and you will want to check the door switch and the thermal fuse on the blower housing. Bob February 15, 2016 for Model Number DBXR463GG8WW Hi, My gas dryer won't start even after replacing Rotary Start Switch (WE4M519), There were only two wires present and connected to original switch although the switch itself had three locations for possible wire connections. I checked the outlet and breaker and they are not the issue.. Dryer door switch appears to be ok but I wondering how to test to see if it is still good without tearing my dryer apart. Does this model have some type of pilot light that may have gone out? Any other suggestions to get it working would be greatly appreciated!

John January 12, 2016 for Model Number DX4500EEOWW I KNOW THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE START SWITCH BECAUSE IT IS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION. BUT WHEN I TRY TO START THE DRYER THERE IS JUST A LOUD HUMMING NOISE AND THE DRUM WILL NOT TURN. Michael November 25, 2015 I have a Hotpoint NBXR463EB2WW dryer and installed a new rotary start switch part #WE4M519. My original switch had a red wire on the connector located on the top by itself and a brown wire attached to the connector directly below it and that goes straight down the back. The terminal next to it had another brown wire that went across the back of the panel to anther part. I matched the wires according to the instruction video which was helpful because the redesigned GE switch has different terminal placement. As soon as I made the swap and powered on the dryer started working but without me turning the rotary switch. I was psyched because thought I had if fixed. I swapped the two brown wires on the bottom terminals thinking that would fix the issue that the rotary switch wasn't actually starting the dryer. From that point on no combination of wires on terminals work and I'm back to a dead dryer. Did I somehow fry the new switch by trying different combinations of wire connections or do I have the wrong rotary start switch for my model? Thanks.Michael

According to the wiring diagram of the unit, the red will go to number 2, the brown from the timer will go to number 4 and the other brown to number 3. Henry November 18, 2015 for Model Number DWSR483GG1WW Rotary Start Switch only or do I need both Switch and a Motor?? The switch sticks in the start position and does not return(spring back) to the left by itself as it used to do. I can return the switch to the left manually. When I turn the switch to the start position to run the dryer it sticks at this position, but the dryer runs fine. If I manually return the switch to the left the dryer turns off. If someone has used the dryer previously and the switch is still on the start position the dryer will start when setting drying selector knob as long as the dryer door is closed. Obviously, I need a switch, but by not running when I return the switch to the left does this also indicate a bad motor?

Rachel May 09, 2015 for Model Number GE dryer DDSR475ET4WW I need to replace the starter switch on my dryer as the knob broke off. The broken part number is 175D2315P009, ASR2372-100T. It has 3 wires leading in the back of it, 2 on the top and 1 that is lower and off to the side. The replacement part number is identified as WE4X881, which has 2 wires leading to it. Can I hook the 2 top wires together and put them into the top lead of part number WE4X881?
